Preparations for Colorado

Colorado Trip: Day 0

Preparations

We are completely packed and ready to leave to head out towards Colorado tomorrow in the Eurovan.  The camper has a pop-top which is where we will be sleeping.  Riley will have a bed on the floor of the van.  We have a heater with a thermostat in case it is cold at night in the mountains. The camper has water, back up batteries, lp gas, a small fridge, stove, sink, and a shower hose in the back.  We have navigation to help me out a bit as well since I will be the driver.  I drive/navigate and Greg is in charge of the camper and all of its operations.

We will be driving through IN, IL, MO, KS, and finally CO for the next 2-3 days and staying near Rocky Mountain National Park for the rest of the week.  We then head to Steamboat Springs where we have plans to meet up with Jay and Sarah who are meeting us there for the weekend.  From there we will stay near Aspen for a few days, drive over Independence Pass, make a quick trip to Colorado Springs, and our final three days we will spend in Denver.  Jay, Sarah, Greg, and I have tickets to see the Avett Brothers at Red Rocks Sat the 30th.  The next day we head home!

Riley is coming along on this trip but we decided Sergio would be most comfortable staying in town so he's staying at his Aunt Angie's where he'll be much happier than in the woods of Colorado.

In terms of camping/trip preparations, Greg is a minimalist and I am not.  We had to meet in the middle and it's turned out the camper is perfectly packed; not too much and not too little.  We borrowed Paul's camera and are hoping to get some really good photos which hopefully I can post on this blog throughout the trip.  Greg is an experienced backpacker/camper.  I am not, although I love the outdoors.  This should be quite the adventure so here we go.... stay tuned!
